FAQs

Frequently asked questions about mobile payment.
How does PACE enable mobile payments with a smartphone?

How mobile payment works:

Step 1: Save your payment data
You can save different payment methods in the PACE Drive app. Simply open your account data in your dashboard, which you can reach via the nozzle icon at the bottom of the screen. Here, you can add new payment methods and delete already stored payment data.

Step 2: Pay contactless
With PACE Drive, you can now save yourself the trip to the cash register when refueling. The payment process takes place directly in your app. PACE asks you if you want to refuel as soon as you arrive at a partner gas station. Simply select the pump you filled up at, choose your payment method, and confirm the process by facial recognition, fingerprint, or PIN entry. The receipt is automatically saved, the cashier is informed that you have paid and you can continue your journey.

What are the advantages of contactless payment with PACE?

With PACE, you can pay quickly and securely when refueling–without having to carry cash, credit cards or debit cards.

You save yourself long queues when you are in a hurry after refueling.

You can reliably find all your electronic receipts in your PACE Drive app–without an overfilled wallet or a clogged glove compartment.

At the same time, you can rest assured that your payment data is always secured and every payment is transmitted in encrypted form.

Where can I use PACE as a payment app and pay contactless with my smartphone?

Hopefully everywhere soon! In the first step, you can use Connected Fueling at selected partner gas stations. All partner gas stations are highlighted with a blue icon on the map in the PACE Drive app. You can also see in the details of a gas station whether you can make mobile payments here and which payment methods are accepted.

We are already working on expanding the network and adding more partners. We’ll keep you up to date with news in our Connected Fueling News.

How can I save payment methods?

In the account menu PACE Drive App you will find the menu item “Payment methods”. Here you can add and delete payment methods. To save a new payment method, follow the instructions of the app.

How will my payment data be transmitted?

Of course, the highest level of security is required, especially for bank information. Therefore, your payment data is stored separately from your other personal information and specially protected.

During the payment process, your data is transmitted in encrypted form. In addition, each payment must be confirmed by you before information is passed on. This is done using your personal PIN, fingerprint or facial recognition. You can adjust the exact level of security to your needs at any time in your account settings.

We guarantee high security even if you no longer want to use Connected Fueling with certain payment information. If you decide to delete your payment information, it will be done instantly and irrevocably.

What is the difference between PACE and Apple Pay and Google Pay with NFC payments?

When paying contactless via NFC, for example using Apple Pay or Google Pay, you can only pay directly at the checkout. This means that if there is a queue at the checkout, you have to stand in line and wait, as you have to hold your phone up to the checkout’s NFC reader.

Mobile payment with PACE, on the other hand, allows you to pay conveniently with your phone directly at the fuel pump. The employee at the gas station is automatically notified by PACE as soon as you have completed the payment process and you can continue your journey.

With which banks does the payment with giropay not work?

Unfortunately, the payment with accounts of ING Diba and comdirect currently does not work via giropay. In this case, please use one of our other payment methods such as Apple Pay, PayPal or credit card.
