As part of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, the tech start-up PACE Telematics has received 2 million euros. The company based in Karlsruhe, Germany, is known for developing services for drivers and the automotive aftermarket as well as the new PACE Drive fueling app.

With a focus on the independent workshop and service business, the PACE Telematics team has been developing digital mobility and customer loyalty solutions for the independent automobile aftermarket since 2017. Now, the tech start-up is funded by the EU as a “High Quality Project”.

The EU program Horizon 2020 intends to promote the pan-European development of PACE services. The general aim of Horizon 2020 is to promote innovation within Europe and thereby create jobs and make life easier for EU citizens.

Bringing Good Ideas to Market Faster: PACE Drive

As the first new product within the scope of EU funding, PACE laid the foundation for the digital future of refueling with the app PACE Drive. The free PACE Drive App displays all gas stations in the user’s immediate vicinity including opening hours, facilities, all types of fuel, services and payment methods – and all this completely free of ads.

Starting during Q1 2020, so-called “PACE Connected Fueling”, i.e. cashless refueling, with mobile payment directly at the pump at filling stations throughout Germany will be launched as an additional feature.

Keeping Europe Competitive as a Mobility Location

By funding PACE, the European Commission is ensuring the further development of one of the best communication solutions for drivers and a sophisticated customer-loyalty tool for the entire mobility sector.

The PACE system provides access to vehicle data and offers connected car services for end customers, car manufacturers, workshops, insurance companies and service stations. This enables the entire automotive aftermarket and related industries (such as Smart City and Smart Home) to digitalize processes quickly and easily.
