Q1 becomes part of the Connected Fueling network

Mobile payment at the fuel pump will also be possible at Q1 Energie AG gas stations in the future. Through the cooperation with Q1 Energie AG, the Connected Fueling network of PACE Telematics continues to grow. Already 25 Q1 gas stations are live; another 175 locations are to follow during the third quarter.

Thanks to the cooperation between PACE Telematics and Q1, short fuel stops are being brought into the digital age. Customers pay conveniently and securely directly at the pump via their smartphone. The roll-out at the 200 gas stations across Germany has already started and will be completed by the middle of the third quarter. The Q1 Energie AG gas station network includes not only Q1-branded stations, but also Aral, Agip and bft.

Paying with a smartphone has long since become part of everyday life for many users. With Connected Fueling, the process is now moved from the cash register directly to the fuel pump. This offers an attractive alternative to standing in line with mouth-to-nose protection, especially in current times. But even apart from greater individual security, mobile payment offers customers advantages–such as time savings, data security, and a digital receipt–that are now taken for granted, and not just by digital natives.

Digitization offers the opportunity right now to establish digital services for customers that may soon become the industry standard.

Q1 board member Frederick Beckmann sees mobile payment as a valuable service: “We want to offer our customers maximum flexibility. Particularly from customers in a hurry, the service station is thus better perceived among the competition. Store sales don’t suffer–our experience with digital payment methods has been very positive overall.”

Fast connection of different cash register systems

The independent Connected Fueling platform enables the integration of different POS systems. Q1 initially enables the use of the PACE solution at 25 stations with POS systems of the company Ratio Elektronik GmbH. In the future, acceptance at stations with POS systems of HUTH Elektronik Systeme GmbH will also be possible, using the technology of the Mobile Payment Hub of WEAT Electronic Datenservice GmbH. This will enable future partners who also work with the aforementioned POS systems to integrate and start with Connected Fueling even faster.
