PACE Telematics GmbH, one of the technological leaders in mobile payment at the pump, and Eifrig Media GmbH with the popular app Blitzer.de, Europe’s largest traffic community, today announce their partnership: By integrating the Connected Fueling platform into the Blitzer.de apps, the two companies now enable all Blitzer.de users on Android to make uncomplicated, fast and contactless payments with their smartphones directly at the gas pump.

With the PACE Drive app, PACE Telematics is already making this technology accessible to a steadily growing user base. Thanks to the cooperation with Blitzer.de, this will now be possible for millions more drivers in Germany: All Blitzer.de Android users can now benefit from this innovation thanks to the Connected Fueling platform.

How it works is very simple: In the Blitzer.de apps on Android, the new “Connected Fueling” menu item shows nearby gas stations where mobile payments can be made. After registering once, the new function is ready for use. Once you have arrived at the gas station, you can then pay quickly and easily: Select the gas pump and payment method on your smartphone, fill up, authorize the transaction and drive on right away. The cashier is notified of the payment, and the fuel receipt is automatically sent in digital form by email.

By integrating mobile payment at the pump into our app, we can offer our Blitzer.de users further added value. This is how we ensure that we continue to provide an innovative user experience.

Matthias Eifrig, managing director of Eifrig Media GmbH

All of this works directly in the already installed Blitzer.de app, no further installation is required – only an update if an older version is used. In the latest versions of the Blitzer.de apps for Android – whether Blitzer.de or Blitzer.de PLUS – the functionality is already included, so all app users can easily and straightforwardly try out the new feature immediately during their next refueling.

The network of over 3,000 gas stations connected to Connected Fueling is growing faster and faster and is already active in 8 European countries. A very large number of payment methods such as giropay/paydirekt, Apple Pay, girocard in Apple Pay, credit cards (incl. American Express) or PayPal make it very easy for every driver to use a payment method with which he or she is already familiar.

“By integrating mobile payment at the pump into our app, we can offer our Blitzer.de users further added value. This is how we ensure that we continue to provide an innovative user experience,” explains Matthias Eifrig, managing director of Eifrig Media GmbH.

“The collaboration with Blitzer.de has further confirmed to us that the Connected Fueling platform is very well positioned not only for gas station operators, but also for app providers,” added Philip Blatter, one of the founders and managing directors of PACE Telematics.
